With Spring bursting out all over, and flashes of uplifting colour starting to appear in the garden, what better time to introduce this new collection of contemporary, flower-inspired, colourful textiles.
Sarah Waterhouse established her eponymous, environmentally conscious textile design and printing company in 2007, working from her studio at Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield. She has been hand printing fabrics for over 8 years and strongly believes that the craft of hand printing “is one that shouldn’t be lost in the primarily mechanised world of screen printing.”

Sarah’s new fabric collection, Botany, couldn’t be more fresh, bright and springlike. She says:
“I’m delighted to introduce Botany, my new hand printed fabric collection featuring three brand new designs; Bloom, Bud and Frond. This collection takes its inspiration from studies of Yorkshire plants and flowers and is printed is fresh Spring and Summer brights and pastels. I hope you love the new designs and colours and find something here that can add a splash of colour to your home”.

As with all Sarah’s designs, they’re hand printed in organic inks and the collection is available in both medium and upholstery weight natural fabrics.

Sarah prints her original designs on a range of eco-friendly and sustainable fabrics, such as hemp and organic cotton, some of which have been dyed to her exact specifications to produce coloured base cloths for her to work with. As well as running her own business her passion for, and knowledge of, environmentally friendly fabrics and printing techniques has also led to a number of teaching opportunities within her field.
In addition to her own ever-expanding collection of prints, each available in a choice of colourways, Sarah also offers a bespoke printing and colour matching service with designs available in custom colours to suit your own requirements. I think there’s nothing more exciting than having something made exactly to your own specifications, especially where colour is concerned.
Visit Sarah’s online shop to see the new Botany collection, and also the full range of her lovely, colourful textiles, all of which are available by the metre or in smaller pieces for small scale projects.
