This hot weather is definitely a test of our textile choices, wouldn’t you say? Clothing-wise I’m just about sorted. Around the home, not so much. Hence linen cushions are in the spotlight today.
With temperatures in the stratosphere, our sofa is no longer a place of relaxation and comfort. And all because I hadn’t bothered to swap the wool blanket over the sofa back and the velvet scatter cushions for lighter, smoother, cooler fabrics.
No wonder I’ve been hot, sweaty and itchy of an evening, rather than chilling out with the Wimbledon highlights.
So, cool and comfortable linen cushions to the rescue. Cotton is the other obvious choice, of course, it’s just that I have a soft spot for the look and feel of linen.
Its slubby texture and the way it takes up dye give it a character that’s hard to beat. It’s also a fantastically eco-friendly textile when flax is grown in the right conditions. Anyway, these are the colourful, contemporary linen cushions for cool summer lounging that I’m looking at right now. And some of them are in the sales, so happy days (and non-itchy evenings on the sofa) all round.
