Cocha Green and Blue Outdoor Rug
Here we go … it’s the Easter weekend coming up, so that means (apart from lots of chocolate) that it’s the official start of the “garden” season. This is the weekend we dust off the outdoor furniture, freshen up the garden/patio/balcony with new plants, de-rust the barbecue and pray for a warm and sunny summer.

Outdoor fabrics have been more and more in evidence over the last few years, in the shape of upholstered furniture that can stay out in all weathers, outdoor cushions and beanbags, and now outdoor rugs too. I love the way that new materials mean that outdoor living is becoming more and more comfortable; previously the choice was between durable but not very comfortable wooden or metal garden furniture with removable cushions to make sitting more bearable. Now we can find comfy, upholstered outdoor sofas and armchairs, and matching low tables, that can stay in situ all year round – it’s just like moving your lounge outdoors.
And now we can get outdoor rugs too, to complete the outdoor ‘lounge living’ experience. These outdoor rugs from Habitat are in bright, summery shades and striking, contemporary patterns. Made from 100% polypropylene, they’re lightweight, hard-wearing and weather proof, which makes them perfect to add to an arrangement of furniture on the patio. In fact, I saw them in a Habitat store last week, teamed with equally colourful chairs and other outdoor accessories to create a set-up that was bright, cheerful and so very comfortable – impossible not to relax and chill out completely. That said, as they’re so lightweight and versatile, they’d also be fantastically handy for impromptu lazing and picnics on the lawn and for taking to the park, beach or on camping trips.
