This week’s pattern is our pick from the new Liberty London Art Fabrics Spring/Summer 2013 collection – ‘The Flower Show‘.
The wonderfully retro ‘Richard and Lyla’, from the ‘Guerrilla Gardening’ collection, is inspired by Richard Reynolds, founder of www.guerrillagardening.org, and his nocturnal transformation of the abandoned flower beds and roundabouts of Elephant and Castle in London.
Based on a 1950′s archive print which was re-worked and hand painted, it tells the story of two characters who met while planting tulips on a London roundabout and depicts Guerrilla Gardeners bringing the colour and beauty of plants and flowers to the urban landscape to reclaim and beautify neglected public spaces.
