Ooh la la! The brand new Anthropologie Bistro Collection of kitchen/tableware is seriously chic, don’t you think? It’s this month’s pick for our “everyday pleasure” category – simple, useful, beautiful items that make us smile and bring us no end of pleasure every time we see and use them.
Inspired by the monochrome tiles and gold accents of traditional Parisienne bistros, the Bistro Collection is made from hand-painted stoneware that’s both glamorous and decorative yet soothingly understated.
Finely detailed black and white geometric patterns and delicate touches of gold are teamed with Art Deco-style typography to create a super-stylish range that’s fun and very versatile. Black, white and gold are a classic combination that goes with just about everything.
As you can see in the image above, the Anthropologie Bistro Collection is perfectly at home in a minimal, modern kitchen. Although it’ll fit equally well into a traditional setting too.
Aside from being full of lovely items to use in your own home, I predict that the Bistro Collection will solve all kinds of gift-giving dilemas. Housewarming presents, hostess gifts, birthdays and – gulp! – Christmas (can’t believe I’ve just typed that word. Sorry, sorry, sorry.)
From everyday plates and mugs to butter dishes, measuring cups and pie dishes, there’s bound to be something to appeal to the stylish (and Francophile) food lover, cook or baker. On a frivolous note, how about the spatula and Eiffel Tower-shaped cookie cutter, pictured below – fantastique.
Plus there are these Bistro Margo Monogram Mugs, above, and Monogram Coasters, below. Monogrammed pieces are always perfect as presents with a personal touch.
These Bistro Collection storage canisters have to be the most glamorous kitchen storage I’ve seen in a long time. The Rise & Shine canister has to be for the coffee, non? And the tall Bonjour canister is ideal for spaghetti (or hiding a packet of biscuits).
I rather love this decorative measuring set -it’s far too pretty to hide away in a drawer.
Well, those are my highlights, but you can browse the entire Anthropologie Bistro Collection here. Bon weekend à tous!
