Spine Drop Pendant Lightshade in Olive Green
These striking sculptural lightshades by London based furniture/lighting designer Ciara O’Neill have been on my radar for a while (I’m coveting the olive green one pictured above in particular) so I was delighted to find out they’re now available on the high street from John Lewis.

With their simple yet sophisticated designs and contemporary colour palette, it’s hard to believe these light shades are made from a material as basic as corrugated plastic. Ciara, however, has developed her own unique method of cutting and shaping what is essentially an industrial sheet material into these beautiful forms. When I first saw the shades I was captivated by their crisp simplicity and very impressed with the quality of the finish; the cuts and folds expose the contrasting white of the plastic whilst giving the shades their shape and structure. There’s also a pleasing tension between the sharp folds and straight lines and the simple curves. Ciara says:
