Currently confined to home with a knee injury, I’ve spent many happy hours looking through the new season Graham & Green furniture, lighting and homewares catalogue. (And pretty much their entire website too, if I’m honest). Both are satisfying a serious need for interiors inspiration for this summer – and beyond. And I can hand-on-heart say that I want to live in just about every lifestyle shot I see there.
But I’m particularly enjoying how the brand has evolved to become more contemporary, whilst still staying true to its original boho-chic roots.
Living in West London, I’m lucky to have Graham & Green virtually on my doorstep. In fact, the company feels like an old friend to me. I’ve visited their first-ever shop in Elgin Crescent, just off the Portobello Road, for years (decades! – gulp!!) and its intimate, Aladdin’s cave atmosphere remains as magical as ever. In contrast, their large Bayswater space creates an airier, sleeker and more contemporary atmosphere altogether.
But whatever space it occupies, the Graham & Green aesthetic remains the same – their signature eclectic blend of materials, colour, pattern and texture. I always say you could furnish an entire house from their range and (unlike other interiors brands) the result wouldn’t look new, or bland, or “just-out-of-the-same-box” at all. My own most treasured Graham & Green purchase is a dressing table that’s extremely versatile and is still going strong after several bedroom updates.
Graham & Green eclectic furniture & homewares inspiration
I think “eclectic” is a term often over-used in interior design, and I also think it’s an incredibly hard look to pull off. It’s all too easy to end up with somethings that’s more “dog’s dinner” instead. If you want tips on how to do it right, the Graham & Green website and catalogue is an absolute masterclass. You’ll find bright jewel tones next to more muted hues. Sleek velvets and slubby linens. Organic, natural materials alongside gleaming metallics. Classic printed textiles mingled with sculptural shapes and painterly brushstrokes. Exquisite craftsmanship and a host of tiny-yet-mighty design details. Above all, you’ll find an abundance of character, flair and soul. What more could any colour, pattern and interiors addict ask for?
Anyway, here are just some of my favourite pieces and looks that are perfect for the current summer season, and for the rest of the year as well. I hope you like them too. If I had to choose just one piece, though, it would have to be the striking Vera Club Chair. It’s a bold and sophisticated statement chair and very much a forever purchase.
