We’re going a bit high-tech today … well, not too much, it’s only a table after all, but this isn’t any old table, it’s the Nomad Tablet Table from Dutch design brand Spell.
As someone who often walks around the house with an i-pad in her hand (when it’s not sitting in its usual place cluttering up the kitchen worktop), the thought of having somewhere proper to put it, use it, plug it in, recharge it, you name it, is extremely appealing. At present our charger lives above the fruit bowl, which makes for very precarious recharging. Although it does remind me to eat my five a day.

But back to The Nomad Tablet Table, which comes in either square or round versions and a choice of six colours – white, black, light and dark grey, a lovely soft pink and a zingy, bright yellow.

The Nomad Tablet Tables are sturdily constructed from steel, and the hollow stem allows you to hide the cable neatly away if you’re using it. They’d be equally handy at work or in the home, and are small and portable enough to easily be moved from room to room if necessary. Although that may be defeating the object of the exercise …

I also love that the slot where you dock your tablet is made from solid wood. It makes for a lovely mix of materials and a quality finish.

There’s also a Nomad Bedside Table, for those who can’t bear to be parted from their tablet even while they sleep.

It’s great that they’re designing furniture to accommodate and integrate the technology that’s part of everyday life these days. These tables are very neat and clever, and I can see one in the corner of our kitchen, keeping the i-pad off the worktop and out of the fruit bowl.
Even better, though, would be one of those little wooden slots built right into the kitchen worktop. It can only be a matter of time, if it hasn’t happened already. If you’ve seen one, do let me know.
