We were delighted when online furniture retailer Swoon Editions asked if we’d like to put together a collection of our favourite pieces on their website.
Swoon first grabbed our attention when we came across their Karla armchair with its urban-rustic meets mid-century modern style. We were smitten, had to write about it and it’s still a much-visited post.
Well, there have been many more Karla’s since then, as Swoon Editions keep coming up with extremely covetable, affordable pieces – like the Hettie modern Chesterfield sofa, below, that we wrote about back in March.

They’re able to offer the best possible value without compromising on quality by using customer response to their designs to keep prices keen. New designs are launched initially in very small numbers as Little Editions of between 5-20 pieces then, if these prove to be popular, production is upscaled to Full Editions of over 100. This is a great way to test the popularity of a new design, give people what they want and avoid wasteful over-production in the process.
Swoon Editions’ handcrafted furniture covers a range of styles, from mid-century modern to ‘rustic and reclaimed’, French-style to industrial and classic to contemporary, meaning there’s something for everyone.
Here’s one of our top picks, the Denton Console Table (above and below), with its steel clad top featuring rows of fine nail-head detailing – we love how this classic console shape has been given an industrial edge. And new designs come out every week, so there’s always something new to discover.

We were particularly excited when we heard about their recently launched Designer Editions, where they’re collaborating with some of our favourite contemporary textile designers to produce extremely limited editions of some of their most popular pieces. And limited really does mean limited – there are only 10 of these Designer Editions produced, ever, and once they’re sold they’re gone for good.

One of the latest Designer Editions, and also part of our top Swoon picks, is the Karla armchair covered in fabric by textile studio Bococo, who reinterpret traditional, artisan-produced textiles for contemporary interiors. This screen-printed fabric is from Bococo’s Bulaklak collection, a graphic interpretation of traditional Filipino textile designs that complements the Karla perfectly. I don’t think this Designer Edition will be hanging around for long, do you?
Hop on over to the Swoon Editions website to see our page with the rest of our favourites, although we had a very hard job picking just 12 – we could easily have chosen twice that many, at least. Enjoy, and we hope you’ll be swooning too.
