Have you seen the new Noir Collection of contemporary bathroom fixtures and fittings from Bathstore and Elle Decoration? I spotted it in my latest copy of Elle Decoration. And, I have to confess, it was love at first sight. Exactly how do I love the new Noir Collection? Let me count the ways …
The deep, inky, matt black finish, for starters. Of course, all you design-savvy readers will know that black bathroom fittings have been a thing for a while now. But they’re not going anywhere anytime soon, so why not have a change from the traditional metallics?
Let’s see, what else? I love the Bauhaus-inspired bold, structural lines. But the Noir Collection is nothing if not versatile, and offers a choice of square or rounded profiles. So you can choose between a very graphic feel or something rather softer.
Next, the Bathstore x Elle Decoration Noir Collection is the bathroom equivalent of the perfect LBD. You can style it up or down, and make it as understated or dramatic as you choose. How chic and sophisticated does it look with the marble above? Simple, but stunning.
Then there’s the Noir Collection Craft furniture range, which you can mix and match into your bathroom design if you want to add some warmer, wood tones. These sink units give a nod to mid-century style with their lathe-turned legs and the lovely mitred detail around the drawer fronts.
This one might make you laugh, but sometimes it’s the smallest details that give me the greatest pleasure. In this case, it’s the pattern cut into the Noir Shower Waste, above. This decorative drain waste would make me happy every time I took a shower.
And finally, there are some nice finishing touches, like mirrors and shelves. Whilst I’m not a big fan of the ultra-coordinated, matchy-matchy look, these pull the whole thing together nicely without looking overdone.
So, what do you think? Would you go for a black bathroom, if it was as handsome as the Noir Collection?
