I wish I could dive into the picture above and live in this space. I know, I know, it’s just a set for a photo shoot and not a real room in a real home – although it does seem to be an actual (very large and empty) room in an actual flat. But oh how I love the colours. And the space. And the light. It’s a genius piece of styling and photography – go Habitat!
So, in the absence of being able to actually live in the new Habitat Spring/Summer 2016 Lookbook, let’s take a peek instead at some of the pieces that caught my eye.

First off, I’ve seen the Malo shelving unit above, designed in-house by Laure Grezard, in a couple of interiors magazines and I can see why it’s such a hit. The smart graphic shapes make it perfect for displaying decorative objects as well as books whilst the deep spacing between the lower shelves provides space for oversize books. It’s incredibly versatile, and would make a great room divider too. Shown here in oak, it’s also available in walnut.
Let’s stay with this image and sink into the luxurious toffee-coloured leather Chester Sofa, designed by Matthew Hilton. Shown here as a corner sofa, it comes in a whole range of sizes, and fabric as well as leather.
The open and airy Hermann Glass Coffee Table is ideal when you don’t want your coffee table to dominate the room, and the shelf allows you to keep magazines and books handy and turn them into part of the decor too – it’s amazing how a coloured book or two in just the right place can add a finishing touch and bring real zing and balance to a room.
And I love the Marlowe Bubble Glass and Brass Table Lamp, designed by Aaron Probyn exclusively for Habitat. The touch base is sleek but in contrast the flask shaped top made from bubble glass is satisfyingly organic and imperfect.
Before we leave this room I just have to mention the wall – we are just about to redecorate our bedroom and the colour we’ve gone with is pretty much this shade of soft green/blue. And spookily, I spotted these very same prints whilst browsing in the Habitat Tottenham Court Road store a couple of weeks ago and they were the inspiration for the new bedroom scheme. I’m thinking grey accents (some quite dark), with touches of orange and deep turquoise as here, and perhaps strong coral pink too. More on the great bedroom revamp in future posts. I couldn’t find the prints to buy, though, and can’t see them on the website either. I will investigate further and report back – I really want the right hand print for our new bedroom wall.
Below are more images from the Habitat SS16 collections – I won’t bore you with a running commentary on each, but there are links for all the main pieces that are available now. Items are still coming in so if something isn’t mentioned it will probably be available in the coming weeks. Enjoy!
Avia Rattan furniture | Topa Rug | Ridge White Planter
Miles Green Shelving Units | Sheppy Pure Wool Sheepskin Beanbag | Rafi Black and Gold Floor Lamp
Lucia Metal Bed | Tisno Wool Chair | Rowan Oak 3-Drawer Chest
P.S. At the time of writing (17 March) Habitat have a mid-season sale on, with up to 30% off selected lines. It includes their ready-to-go sofas – there’s a whopping £600 saving on the Chester 3-seater leather sofa – so a good opportunity to snag investment pieces at great prices.
