Hanging chairs, for both indoors and out, are having a bit of a moment. They’re reminiscent of the delights of the child’s swing, the hammock and the rocking chair, all rolled into one. Crafted in Spain, where making rattan furniture has a strong heritage, the Nautica Hanging Chair is made from peeled rattan which is shaped in traditional wooden moulds and then stained, rather than painted, to allow the beauty of the natural grain to show through. Suspended by a strong woven rope from the sturdy aluminium frame, which can take up to 150kg, the chair has a large seat cushion and two back cushions, for optimal longing comfort.
The Nautica Hanging Chair could work so well anywhere. Shown above in the corner of a bedroom, it’s just dreamy, but could equally well be at home in the lounge, hallway, or conservatory. And, of course, it’s crying out to be placed somewhere outdoors … A small caveat: as it’s made from genuine rattan, rather than synthetic material, it is recommended that it not be left outside in bad weather. A small price to pay though, and with something this lovely I’d certainly want to take very good care of it. Speaking of small prices, you may not be surprised to hear that the Nautica isn’t cheap, so definitely an investment piece.
