Could there be a better week to show you these colourful, geometric patterned umbrellas by David David? The forecast is sunshine and showers for the next several days, and we’re talking proper, thundery, summer cloudbursts – definitely time to get ‘brollied up. No problem, these contemporary umbrellas with their graphic prints are just the thing to keep you dry and banish the June gloom at the same time.
Artist and designer David Saunders, a graduate of Chelsea College of Art, founded fashion and interiors brand David David in 2008 to create “bold geometric prints for fashion and the home”.
American Vogue described David as “… the poster boy for the London crossover between art and fashion”. I just love it when prints and patterns are put onto practical everyday items and clothing and we get the chance to use/wear them out and about – portable artworks, if you will.

Micro Compact Umbrella Print M22
There are two types of David David umbrellas in the range. The first is an extremely compact micro telescopic umbrella that easily fits into a bag or coat pocket. The frame is made from lightweight aluminium and fibreglass and is designed to be flexible for maximum wind resistance, whilst the large canopy measures 92cm diameter when open to maximise coverage.

The other David David umbrellas are the classic walking stick type. This premium style has a double canopy combined with a beautifully grained maple wood handle and shaft. This makes for a very sturdy construction and a lot of protection from rain and wind.

Do check them out – it’s a beautiful collection and I often discover new artists and designer/makers there.
