Colourful tableware in cupboardI love discovering quirky and original bits and pieces that make everyday activities special and pleasurable, but colourful tableware and kitchen accessories with real character can sometimes be hard to find.  On a recent visit to Anthropologie (to see the the wonderful Selvedge magazine pop up shop that I previewed here), I was delighted to see that bright, patterned colourful kitchenalia and tableware with a difference was to be found in abundance in the main store.

Folk-art inspired, multi-coloured, hand-painted butterdishes and cookware, leaf-green bowls with a dash of cheery marigold orange on the rim, poppy-red enamel coffee pots … all shades and hues were there, like gorgeous spring blooms.  With the first hints of the new season’s soft warmth in the air, and flower bulbs and tree buds just starting to burst into life, what better way to bring colour and fresh energy into your home?  I treasure my morning ritual of making my one coffee of the day, and think I’d look forward to it even more with this bright red coffee maker; it would energise me and send my spirits soaring even before the caffeine kicked in!  Here are my favourite picks to brighten your kitchen and make cooking more colourful and fun, and to adorn your table for family meals and feasts with friends:

And because a girl can’t spend ALL her time in the kitchen, here are a few lovely things that aren’t strictly colourful tableware and weren’t exactly in the kitchen department, but were just too cute to leave out. Have a wonderful, colourful day!

Hi Stacey, hello fellow student and thanks for the visit (and the follow)! I appreciate the comments, thankyou for taking the time – I’m exceptionally lucky to have Ron, my wonderful tech support/all-round computer genius, helping me get the site looking how I want. And so glad you like what I’m featuring – isn’t the Anthropologie tableware gorgeous? They come up with such different, unusual designs. Basically I could just about feature the whole store! See you in class, Helen
