I hope the New Year has started well for you. Maybe, like mine, your January doesn’t involve resolutions but does mean trying to get just a little bit more organised. Even if only for the next few weeks …
I’ve been looking around for some storage baskets of various sizes for a while now and, not for the first time, it’s West Elm to the rescue with this family of colourful storage baskets. The cheerful colours made me smile as soon as I saw them, and I love that they’ve been teamed with a modern graphic motif that makes these baskets very contemporary whilst still retaining their hand-made charm.
I also love the shape of the lids with their bulbous handles – they’re so full of character and a million miles away from boring, utilitarian storage boxes. We all need to have storage, so why not make it colourful and interesting and make a feature out of a necessity?
Made by Senegalese artisans from millet grass and recycled plastic threads these colourful storage baskets come in a choice of useful sizes that make them perfect for laundry, towels, toys (they’d be brilliant for children’s rooms) … or anything at all really.
The largest size basket, above, will take a good amount of laundry and, as you can see below, looks perfectly at home in the bedroom unlike some laundry baskets that definitely need to be hidden away in the bathroom.
Next size down is the medium laundry basket, pictured above, and then the over-sized basket below.
The baby of the family, and my favourite (although maybe not the most practical) is the size they call a warming basket. It’s got very jolly, rounded proportions and if a basket can be happy, then this one definitely is. And I’m very taken with the yellow colourway – how about you?
