The eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted that this exuberant pattern, ‘Bliss’ by Parris Wakefield Additions, is one of the sliding images featured at the top of our Home Page. We were so happy and excited to be given permission to use the design, after seeing it at TENT London last year, as we think it sums up perfectly so much of what colourful beautiful things is all about. And we were even more excited to get the news from its designers, Sarah Parris and Howard Wakefield, that the first rolls of ‘Bliss’ wallpaper were hot off the press and for sale this week in their online shop.
Of the process of getting the wallpaper into production, Howard and Sarah say: “It took a lot to find the right manufacturers to get the quality and colours absolutely right, but it was well worth the effort.”
One of my favourite fantasy interior design games is “If colourful beautiful things were a real life place” where in my mind’s eye I plan a vast gallery/shop/cafe/workspace that’s full of all the beautiful things we feature here on the site (plus the best coffee ever). Well, as your walk through the front door of this wondrous establishment the first thing you’ll see is a large wall of ‘Bliss’ wallpaper; I can still recall seeing a flash of it in the distance at TENT and my feet carrying me towards it, with no conscious thought of where I was going or why. That’s the power of great colour and the effect it can have on us – it draws us towards it, makes us smile involuntarily, lifts our mood and maybe even prompts the odd happy dance every now and again too.
As well as this premium quality wallpaper, ‘Bliss’ is also available as fabric, cushions and lampshades (also available in bespoke options). So now we’ve all got the chance to incorporate a little bit – or even huge, wall-sized amounts – of ‘Bliss’ into our everyday lives.
