I mentioned last week that we’d just returned from a short trip to Stockholm. Which reaffirmed (as if that were really needed) my love of Scandinavian style that marries simple yet striking design with natural textures.
Let’s not forget, though, here in the UK we have some very beautiful, home-grown interiors collections of our own. Where to look to achieve pared-back, calm, stylish simplicity in our own homes? Top of my list would be the Croft Collection by John Lewis.
To which I would add – supremely versatile without being in the slightest bit bland.
Here are some of my favourite pieces, big and small, from the John Lewis Croft Collection. The furniture is classic and will look good forever in a whole range of interiors. The accessories can be layered together to create muted, neutral schemes, or mixed in with brighter colours and patterns to create a bolder look.
Top of my own wish list are these chairs and side table by Sitting Firm. The range is made only from English ash and British elm, and each piece is named after British woods from where most of the timber is sourced and replenished.
I love the grey painted finish, walnut knobs and marble top of the Montrose Sideboard. It would look stunning in a contemporary kitchen/diner but equally at home in a period room. And just look at the majestic matching larder unit below – it’s perfect for the current movement away from fully-fitted kitchens.
Benches are such versatile pieces of furniture and can be used all over the house for different purposes. Above and below, the Croft Collection Glendale 4-Seater Dining Bench is crafted from wavy edged solid oak.
Made from fine bone china, the Croft Luna Tableware Collection has a contemporary design that’s casual enough for everyday but special enough for high days and holidays.
Our bedding is due for a Spring refresh, and I’ve got my eye firmly on this lovely Baby Seersucker Bedding in crisp, white 100% cotton.
I noticed the beautifully simple Croft Collection William Bottle Glass Pendant a while ago, and featured it in our popular Top 10 Contemporary Glass Pendant Lights post.
I could go on and on, but I’ll leave you to discover more at your leisure – here’s where you can find the entire Croft Collection. Happy browsing.
